Majorelle

How it began

The brand was born with this very product, with our collier necklaces. It all began with an inspiration drawn from a trip to Morocco, particularly the Majorelle Gardens of Yves Saint Laurent, where the painter gave free rein to his imagination, and the colours of the architecture merge with nature until one can no longer tell where one ends and the other begins: a single, seamless whole.

A few days after that trip, I had the chance to visit the Klimt exhibition in Rome, and seeing how avant-garde he had been in portraying his muses through necklaces was, for me, a revelation. A fellow traveller, too, just back from a journey through China and the East, showed me the colours she had discovered, and that is how the idea was born: to use these fabrics as true jewellery, just as the artist adorned his muses.

A few years later came the idea of using these same colours and oriental trimmings to create belts as well. For the care we devote to every detail, we chose velvet as the closure, rather than metal, making the belts adjustable and accessible to everyone.
